Brooklyn based Jazz chanteuse Laura Anglade is originally from the village of Brousse-le-Chteau in the south of France, though she grew up in the US and spent several years living in Canada. Lauras performances are a reflection of her roots: rich in simplicity, an appreciation for the past and finding wonder in ordinary moments. Laura brings clarity and depth to interpretations shaped by the legendary voices of Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, Shirley Horn, Carmen McRae, Michel Legrand and Barbra Streisand, among others. Her 2022 release Venez Donc Chez Moi earned a Juno nomination and in 2023 she was awarded the Prix Opus for Jazz Concert of the Year.An international touring artist, Laura has headlined jazz festivals across the US, Canada, Mexico, UK and Europe, captivating audiences through her innate storytelling. Her conversational style bridges the gap between singer and listener, making each performance intimate and personal. Her artistry has brought her to renowned stages including Paris L Olympia, Londons Royal Festival Hall, New Yorks Town Hall, and a regular at the Festival International de Jazz de Montral. She has also toured in support of acclaimed artists like Melody Gardot and Gregory Porter.Lauras third album, Get Out of Town (Nettwerk Music Group), was released on May 23, 2025 to tremendous praise and she has seen her audience grow exponentially. Laura was featured on Stephen Colberts Late Show Me Music series, where she performed her version of the beloved Rodgers Manhattan . She continues to tour and will be performing in January 2026 at Winter Jazz Fest in New York City.

This jam is about community building, showing off your talents, and becoming connected with Chicago's finest artists and musicians. Musicians of all levels are welcome. Bob Lark is recognized regionally, nationally and internationally as a contemporary jazz educator and performer of integrity. His approach to pedagogy and rehearsal techniques has been noted by participation in professional conferences; publication of articles; compact disc recordings as both a performer and ensemble director; and the direction of numerous student honors ensembles. Down Beat magazine recognized Bob's work in 2010 with their Jazz Education Achievement Award. In speaking of Lark, jazz icon Clark Terry stated, "He's a very good trumpet player, a very good musician. He's paid his dues." Recordings on the Jazzed Media label include those by The Bob Lark/Phil Woods Quintet, Bob Lark and his Alumni Big Band, and Bob Lark and Friends, with Phil Woods, Rufus Reid, and Jim McNeely. Bob's playing and writing are also featured on the CD recordings Until You and First Steps on the Hallway label. He is an exclusive Yamaha Performing Artist. Bob is an active clinician, soloist and guest conductor. He has served as host for the Carmine Caruso International Jazz Trumpet Solo Competition, is the past-president of the Illinois Unit of the International Association for Jazz Education, and has chaired the International Trumpet Guild jazz improvisation competition. For thirty-one years, Dr. Lark served as Professor of Music and Director of Jazz studies at DePaul University, in Chicago. Currently, Bob is the Director of Jazz Studies at Valparaiso University in Indiana. He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in performance from the University of North Texas, having earlier earned a Master's degree from that school, and a Bachelor of Music Education degree from The Ohio State University.

Fulton Street Collective presents a performance with Rodrigo Romero and Organic Chemistry on Tuesday, November 17th at 7:30pm. The evening will feature live painting from visual artist TBA. Rodrigo Romero (aka RoD) is a Peruvian tenor saxophonist, composer, and educator based in northern New Jersey. Known for blending modern jazz with Latin American traditions—including Afro-Peruvian rhythms—he actively performs across the New York, New Jersey, and Lima jazz scenes. He studied under Latin Grammy winner Anibal Seminario, played first tenor for the Tempo Big Band, and went on to earn a Master of Music (MM) in Jazz Saxophone from Montclair State University. His recent discography includes the 2025 album Libre Esencia, which features a jazz/Afro-Peruvian reimagining of the classic bolero "Piel Canela" alongside vocalist Manuela Zapata.

Known for his incredible versatility, discipline, and spontaneous rhythmic control, he regularly leads his own ensembles—like the Greg Artry Quintet and Trio—and serves as an essential collaborator alongside some of the finest traditional and modern jazz musicians in the Midwest.

Dorian, aka "Hurricane" Phelps, is an Indianapolis musician who has exploded onto the jazz scene. He picked up a pair of sticks at age one and has been honing his craft ever since. Dorian is the son of legendary jazz drummer Kenny Phelps and Valerie Phelps, music creative and agent. Trained by Kenny Phelps, Dorian has produced a passionate, dynamic music project and show that brings a fresh mix of familiar melodies. The project has New York fusion jazz energy mixed with Robert Glasper-ish groove. Also, Hamilton Hardin of Norman Brown arranged and is featured in the project. Dorian has shared the stage with Pharez Whitted, Opal Staples, Steve Davis, Lamar Campbell, GangGang "Butter" artists of the year, Tad Robinson, countless Indy artists, events, and more.

Jon Langford and Rick Kogan present an evening of words, songs and poems written by the late visual artist, author, actor, gallerist and podcaster Tony Fitzpatrick. Long renowned for his etchings, illustrations and multi-media collages, Tony's deep well of creative output also included poetry, personal essays, and on a much lesser-known basis, songwriting. Shining a light on these works, alongside Jon and Rick, will be vocalists Kelly Hogan and Sally Timms, drummer Quin Kirchner, guitarist John Szymanski, multi-faceted performer Al Scorch and lighting director Tracey Dear, with promotional support from John Soss.

The Wednesday jam is back at Hungry Brain, with a different house trio each month. Each night opens with a set from the trio, either original music or interpretations in the tradition, and then the stand is open to everyone.

Cortex is an R&B artist from Malmö, Sweden, now based in Los Angeles. In 2025, he released his debut full-length project, VELVET NOIRE, followed by his 15-track sophomore album, For What It's Worth, in 2026. The album featured rising rapper Matt Proxy, known for collaborations with Grimes, fakemink, and Curren$y, and debuted in the Top 200 on both Apple Music and Spotify. Cortex has earned recognition from established artists and producers including Sam Tompkins, Jordan Adetunji, and Odeal, alongside acclaimed producers Haan and Anthoine Walters. Blending intimate songwriting, lush production, and infectious melodies, Cortex is helping shape a new generation of Swedish artists pushing R&B beyond its traditional boundaries. His growing international momentum was further cemented when he sold out his European tour in less than 10 minutes.
