On the show Farewell, Marcel introduces us to his world of influence and experiences. Born and raised in São Paulo, Brazil but rooted in Chicago since 2015, Bonfim exudes the intriguing combination of both of his musical worlds. In his compositions, he explores the emotions and feelings about leaving his country and family, while simultaneously making new connections, establishing new relationships and discovering new ways to make art. The contrast, contradiction and duality found in each and every life choice we make, are the main source of inspiration for the show. Born into a musical family, playing music has been a hallmark of his existence. He believes creativity and connection is the essence of music performance. After releasing a series of singles starting in 2020, Anthony Bruno recorded his first full length album of all original electric quartet music in the Summer of 2022 and is set to release in Spring of 2023. All of his music can be found on any streaming platform. Anthony has had a long career an in-demand saxophonist performing with artist such as Wynton Marsalis, The Temptations, The Four Tops, Larry Carlton (Steely Dan), Bobby Watson, Jeff Hamilton, Joel Ross, Gerald Clayton, Sean Jones, Bobby Broom (Miles Davis, Sonny Rollins) and Mary Wilson of The Supremes to name a few. Since 2020, he has developed his career as a burgeoning solo artist including 11 record releases of his own and a brand new full length upcoming record of all original music, releasing in 2023. He has garnered over 750,000 streams on Spotify releases under his own name and has been selected to 6 Spotify Editorial Playlists ranging from Contemporary Jazz to R&B. Bruno has also performed at various prestigious music festivals such as the New York City Winter Jazz Festival, the Chicago Jazz Festival, and the Chicago Blues Festival. Bruno's main musical influences are Jazz, Afro-Cuban, and R&B and considers them the foundational language to his approach to music performance. Anthony is an endorsing artist for D'Addario Woodwind Products and Selmer Paris Saxophones.

Chicago's Questionable Decisions could be called a few different things, and they'd probably all be correct: Jazz, Creative Music, Punk, they all describe the sounds that this quintet makes. Coming from disparate parts of the Chicago music scene, it's no wonder that they sound the way that they do. Guitarist Alex Wing and vibraphonist Preyas Roy are both part of the vibrant South Side Avant-Garde Jazz scene that Chicago is rightly famous for. Woodwind specialist Michael Levin has played in just about every situation known to man, and it sounds like it in this space where he's allowed to follow his muse wherever it leads him. Bassist Chris Bernhardt is a veteran of the Chicago Blues and Jazz scenes, and his sense of groove, time and thump is vital to the Questionable Decisions sound. And then there's Paul Abella. Playing the Peruvian box drum known as the cajon, he gives the group an earthy wallop that sets them apart from many of their contemporaries. Proclaiming influences as varied as Sonny Sharrock, Eddie Harris and Fugazi while playing free improvisations and the occasional Black Sabbath tune, Questionable Decisions is making Avant-Garde Jazz for the Masses.

Chicago trio Twin Talk's new album title, Delights, is affably tongue-in-cheek, but it's not wrong. While the title Delights plays on listeners' expectations for a breezy set of delectable melodies, in actuality the group's tricky interplay consistently challenges that presumption. But Delights is no misnomer as these 11 tracks never lose a sense of joy as they unfold into the prismatic, intuitive musical conversation that has marked this band's sound for more than a decade. Saxophonist Dustin Laurenzi, bassist-singer Katie Ernst, and drummer Andrew Green have spent the last fifteen years making music that has grown ever-more elastic, spontaneous, and open, embracing new inspirations without stifling the improvisational heart of their work. While all three musicians are active members in Chicago's bustling jazz community, each playing in numerous working bands (Laurenzi tours with singer-songwriter Bill Callahan, Ernst is in the touring band for folk artist Iron & Wine, and Green ubiquitous on the Chicago indie/jazz circuit), they've found a true collective voice as Twin Talk. They use live performances as opportunities to stretch—expanding on composed material and ditching set lists in favor of calling tunes on the fly.

The Wooten brothers' first public performance occurred in Hawaii in 1966 and established their identity as prodigies. Since then, Victor Wooten & the Wooten Brothers (brothers Regi, Roy & Jospeh) have racked up 10 Grammy wins, and 26, yes, 26 Grammy nominations. And the youngest of the family, Victor, the brother who learned from all his older brothers, has been named by Rolling Stone Magazine as one of the ten greatest bass players of all time. As a family band, they are second to none. The Brothers' music bends and defines genres; amplifies centuries, and spans continents. The Wooten Brothers began in R&B before evolving as teens into Jazz, Jazz Fusion, Classical and Country. Then, they emerged in 1985 on Arista records with an album called, "The Wootens", that combined Electronic, Funk, Soul, Disco, and Boogie---and offered only a sliver of the Wooten whole.
