Garden Of: BACK TO SCHOOL

Babe WAKE UP it's time to head back to school! Get your uniform on — up to interpretation — put the strap in the Jansport, put the poppers in the lunchbox, get ready to have your yearbook photo taken upon arrival because Principal Dyke did say there may be some yearbooks coming later this year? Spin the bottle IN A GAY WAY like you couldn't in middle school and PLEASE be careful to not get dress coded, that's actually so embarrassing. Please don't spit your gum in the drinking fountain or get a swirly (unless you're into that kind of thing? we don't judge). Don't dress in theme? There will be a tax at the door, you've been warned, bad girls go to detention and you know this. Hosted by Winter Diorr. Performances by Rachel Slurrz, Secret Queen, Annie Andrews, and Claire. DJ'd by DJ Ca$hEra and Starstruck. Read our code of conduct and/or house rules! Tickets are non-refundable. 21+ always. By attending you consent to being photographed and used on socials. Here's some pinterest inspo if you need help with your look 😉 https://pin.it/69EdfsoxH

PUP & Destroy Boys

Over the past decade, PUP have thrived on volatility. It's not really a joke when the Toronto punks release songs like "If This Tour Doesn't Kill You, I Will" or put out albums called The Unraveling of PUPTHEBAND. Though its four members are all best friends, creative dysfunction and interpersonal friction make their snarling and self-deprecating songs thrilling. To their shock and occasional dismay, it's why their albums are critically acclaimed and the crowds at their galvanizing live shows have only grown. It hasn't gone off the rails yet but it definitely could. The possibility it could all blow up at any second is the band's magic. Named as one of Spotify's 2024 New Noise Artists To Watch, Destroy Boys have no intention of slowing down. Punk rock might have been the force that brought Destroy Boys together, but it's far from the only touchstone for their music. From their first record through their fourth, they have continued to write and sing about what they know and drive fans to notice them. School drama and elitist cliques encountered in their teens have given way to the pain of relationships and the inherent feelings of misunderstanding and isolation that is all too common for young people navigating a hybrid of physical and digital worlds. The band has recently toured with some of the most legendary groups in pop-punk, from Blink-182 to Pierce The Veil.

Maria Elena Silva + Alex Dupree

21+. 7pm. Alex Dupree - solo ; guitar amp, vocal mic Maria Elena Silva - solo ; guitar amp, vocal mic. Alex Dupree is a musician based in Austin, Texas. He has released seven albums of original songs that root him firmly but idiosyncratically in the traditions of American folk and country music. His latest album is "Talking to the Dog", which features, alongside his own writing, a duet with Jolie Holland and new interpretations of classics from Scott Walker and Michael Hurley. Maria Elena Silva's music is unapologetic. Her writing shows her roots in rock n' roll, flamenco and the romantic, the fabric of the work giving palpable hints to her experimental aspirations that make borderline frantic use of the world-class instrumentalists at her disposal. One minute you're hanging on every syllable of Silva's vocals and the next minute you're flying into the clouds on one of the many outlandish guitar lines either played by herself or one of her notably talented guitar collaborators (Jeff Parker, Marc Ribot). Silva performs regularly in Chicago with various ensembles; her quintet features pianist Erez Dessel, bassist Tyler Wagner, saxophonist Garrett Frees and drummer Scott Dean Taylor.

REZN - Cycles in the Infinite Dream Tour with Airiel and DIM

Over the last decade, Chicago quartet REZN have carved out a unique place in the landscape of heavy music, chiseling away at the crude formations of the topography, mining the most concentrated metallic ore from the dirt, and shaping it all into something monumental, imposing, and divine. While REZN has always fused seismic riffs with effortless beauty and grandeur, their shifting strategies for wielding that polarity have involved varied compositional and stylistic decisions, most notably the light-and-dark contrast of companion albums Solace (2023) and Burden (2024). But with their newest full-length offering, Cycles in the Infinite Dream, REZN masterfully harness the oppressive weight of their full sonic armory to celestial melodies and sublime synesthesia-inducing atmospherics in a manner so seamless it feels otherworldly, as if occupying a liminal space between two realities. While REZN traffic in the unbridled realms of metal and untethered reaches of psychedelia, their latest release showcases a band working with discipline and intention, even when those intentions are rendered to be purposefully cryptic. As the album title implies, Cycles in the Infinite Dream explores the nexus of our waking and nocturnal worlds. We moved towards the dream and subconscious state as a lyrical concept and melodic theme, the band explains. The pseudo-waking state is a reflection of a second existencesomething that you can flee to or be imprisoned by. Much like the subconscious-guided work of David Lynch, Cycles in the Infinite Dream exists as parallax between the artist and the audience, creating an obscured and distorted space that is both familiar and alien, like a corridor into our past where we recognize our surroundings but somehow still feel lost within its warped geometry.REZN have long operatedand thrivedin the subterranean realm of music heads who crave the aural equivalent of altered states. And with Cycles in the Infinite Dream, they have created their most psychotropic work to date.- Written by Brian Cook
