In recent years, he's been releasing solo albums of original material, starting with his 2012 release, Kingsize EP. In 2014, he was the recipient of an IAP arts grant from Chicago's Dept. Of Cultural Affairs/Special Events (DCASE), which led to his first full-length solo album, Home Now, produced by Grammy-nominated producer Liam Davis, and featuring, among others, Chicago legends Robbie Fulks and Nora O'Connor. In addition, the band announces a fall North American tour, as well as releases the first issue of the Sleep Comic Book , written by bassist and songwriter Al Cisneros. “Have Spacesuit Will Travel” begins Sleep’s first mission without Matt Pike on guitar. The music and art are alive and after the decades of obstacles that Sleep has overcome, it is time to move forward and make songs and albums. Al wishes Matt the best on his earth bound maneuvers. Alongside Cisneros, the latest incarnation of Sleep features Dale Crover on drums and Bubba Dupree on guitar. Dale has been in some serious bands, like the Melvins and Redd Kross . That Al would seek him out makes sense, an almost elementary choice that probably wouldn’t raise too many eyebrows. Bubba Dupree, from the fiercely loved band Void , hailing out of Columbia, MD, is a pick that is not only completely mind-blowing, but a choice no one would have seen coming. Just the thought of Bubba, who was amazing from the first Void shows on, playing guitar in Sleep is almost too much for the mind to comprehend. Al Cisneros, Bubba Dupree, and Dale Crover as a trio looks really good on paper, but the only way to see if it worked was to get everyone in a room and play. Al says the answer made itself evident immediately: “The vibe of the first jam was obvious. It was blue sunglasses-era Iommi in the quality, and equally awesome is Bubba is also one of the coolest people I’ve been able to make music with.”

A storyteller at heart, her music blends warm indie-folk textures with the rawness of alternative pop, capturing life’s quiet moments and loud emotions with equal weight. Originally from southeast Texas and now based in Nashville, Grace’s songwriting is deeply personal yet universally resonant, shaped by the in-between spaces of growing up, letting go, and learning to stay present. When she made her musical debut in 2021, she released her EP, “We’ll Be Alright,” which climbed the iTunes singer-songwriter charts. Her debut full-length album, There Are Two Sides to Everything (2023), is an exploration of contrast—hope and doubt, longing and contentment, the past and the future—all wrapped in lush melodies and thoughtful lyricism. FITZGERALDS NIGHTCLUB PRESENTS: CHARLIE PARR Rooming House Record Release Show at FITZGERALDS! w/ special guest ROSS THORN Rolling Stone has called Charlie Parr's music , "rdquo" -> a gritty blend of Delta blues and Depression-era roots music soaked in his hardscrabble voice. It's a sacred realm of folk wisdom and sorrowful vulnerability." NPR said he offers , "rdquo" -> expertly-picked resonator guitar and lyrics that puncture the soul." Parr tours prolifically, and has performed at tastemaker events like the Newport Folk Fest and Pickathon. The Duluth-based guitarist, songwriter, and interpreter of traditional music has released twenty albums over two-and-a-half decades and has been known to perform up to 275 shows a year. Parr is a folk troubadour in the truest sense: taking to the road between shows, writing and rewriting songs as he plays, fueled by a belief that music is eternal and cannot be claimed or adequately explained. The sounds from his working-class upbringing---including Folkways legends such as Lead Belly and Woody Guthrie---imbue Parr's music with stylistic echoes of blues and folk icons of decades past. Parr sees himself merely as a continuer of a folk tradition. Parr's mastery of his craft is only more apparent when contextualized within the history of folk tradition to which Parr has dedicated his practice. The land and lives around and intersecting with Parr have always influenced him, from the hills and valleys of Hollandale, Minnesota to the Depression-era stories from his father. Parr's first album with Smithsonian Folkways, Last of the Better Days Ahead (2021), foregrounded his lyrical craftsmanship and sophisticated bluesman confidence, with spare production highlighting Parr's mastery of guitar and elevating his blues poetry. In his 2024 release, Little Sun, Parr weaved together stories celebrating music, community, and communing with nature. In doing so, he put forth an ambitious and raw album that exemplifies the best of Parr's sound: his blend of the blues and folk traditions with the steadfast originality of a poet. Now, he continues that tradition with 2026's poignant and timely Rooming House, which joins the chorus of WPA-era socially-conscious folk operas and outlaw country concept albums of the 1970s to poignantly allegorize his experiences and the experiences of the people around him. Weaving lonesome troubadour folk ballads alongside chaotic psychedelic out-forms these melodies have been a vehicle to evoke hazy rain-soaked afternoons, melancholic inner thoughts, and expanding colorful dreams. The band has spun various themes over the years, from reverb-drenched mythological hallucinations to drifting acoustic downer folk, and now finds itself washed out in surrealism, black and white stills, and multidimensional Kodachrome reels. This performance will be performed with a full band and will be debuting new material off their upcoming release. Temp Wishes is the new project from Josh Chicoine (The M's, Cloudbirds, Cult Canyon), Edward Anderson (1900s, Mazes), Colby Starck (Mar Caribe, Bobby Conn), and Glenn Rischke (AM Slingers, Bora Bora, Arks). After a stint in the Chicago indie group, Sabers, Chicoine, Anderson, and Starck started to write and create demos for what would become Temp Wishes in their northside studio in late 2018 right up until the pandemic. A few years passed, as they will, and the group reconnected, vowing to piece this set of psych-folk flecked tunes into something resembling a record, if only to finish it. Like ear-worms, each song morphed itself into a little sonic world with faded, illusory memories and concise easy melody and groove, pushed up against lo-fi sheen. This is the record release show for Temp Wishes' eponymous debut on Rattleback Records and vinyl copies will be available.

Rooted in Chicago's vibrant music scene, The Front Desk is a six-piece band fusing funk, soul, rock, and jazz into a sound distinctly their own. Since forming in 2023, The Front Desk has built a reputation for shows that get people singing along while laying down playful, improvisational tunes.Configuration: we will have 5 people: bass, trombone, percussion, guitar, and lead vocals.

Radio Outernational is a Chicago-based band blending Ethio-funk, psychedelia, and jazz grooves, founded by members of the Eternals rhythm section and featuring a front line of flutes and saxophones from Hunter Diamond and Kenthaney Redmond. Puzzle House is a new band by Michael Zerang featuring guitarist Bill MacKay, saxophonist Azita Youssefi, bassist Mary Halm and drummer Zerang brought together to play Zerang's instrumental tunes.
