Since Forever

This is a Seated Event. Seating is First Come / First Served. Wednesday, November 4 Gman Author Series Presents… Since Forever Jeff Ament & Barry Ament in Conversation with Jill Hopkins at Metro $25 Adv. / $30 Door / All Ages / Doors: 6pm / Show: 7pm Copies of Since Forever will be available for purchase from our retail partner, Exile in Bookville For decades, Pearl Jam founding member and bassist Jeff Ament has photographed the people, places, and moments that inspire him. A few years ago he began working through his archive with his brother, acclaimed designer Barry Ament. Their efforts led to Since Forever, a deeply personal visual journal of creativity, friendship, and life on the road. Drawn largely from previously unreleased images, the collection offers a rare and intimate look at the formative years of Pearl Jam as they evolved from a small group of friends into one of the most influential bands of their generation. From backstage and in the studio to the countless miles between stages, Ament’s photographs capture candid moments of creativity, camaraderie, and the enduring relationships that helped sustain the band through its meteoric rise. At once a visual memoir, and a behind-the-scenes chronicle, the book reveals how relationships, travel, joy, and need contribute to the creative process. Since Forever reveals Ament’s unique perspective as both participant and observer of a defining time period in music and American culture.

SLEEP

* Moved from Riviera Theatre Friday, November 6 SLEEP * Zombi * The Schizophonics $45 / 18+ / Doors: 6:30pm / Show: 7:30pm All previously purchased Riviera Theatre tickets honored Today, the legendary band Sleep releases new single “ Have Spacesuit Will Travel” via Third Man Records, their first new music since 2018. In addition, the band announces a fall North American tour, as well as releases the first issue of the Sleep Comic Book , written by bassist and songwriter Al Cisneros. “Have Spacesuit Will Travel” begins Sleep’s first mission without Matt Pike on guitar. The music and art are alive and after the decades of obstacles that Sleep has overcome, it is time to move forward and make songs and albums. Al wishes Matt the best on his earth bound maneuvers. Alongside Cisneros, the latest incarnation of Sleep features Dale Crover on drums and Bubba Dupree on guitar. Dale has been in some serious bands, like the Melvins and Redd Kross . That Al would seek him out makes sense, an almost elementary choice that probably wouldn’t raise too many eyebrows. Bubba Dupree, from the fiercely loved band Void , hailing out of Columbia, MD, is a pick that is not only completely mind-blowing, but a choice no one would have seen coming. Just the thought of Bubba, who was amazing from the first Void shows on, playing guitar in Sleep is almost too much for the mind to comprehend. Al Cisneros, Bubba Dupree, and Dale Crover as a trio looks really good on paper, but the only way to see if it worked was to get everyone in a room and play. Al says the answer made itself evident immediately: “The vibe of the first jam was obvious. It was blue sunglasses-era Iommi in the quality, and equally awesome is Bubba is also one of the coolest people I’ve been able to make music with.”

Die Spitz

Saturday, November 7 Die Spitz * Faetooth $31 / All Ages / Doors: 6:30pm / Show: 7:30pm When the Venn diagram of passion, friendship, identity, and artistry collide, it can feel as if fighting words are spitting from your veins. And as postmodern society crumbles, Die Spitz giddily bounce between a dozen different ways to push back. If the world of rock music were an ice cream shop, the Austin quartet have sampled each flavor, flipped the freezer over, and started dancing with the employees they helped unionize. On their debut album, Something to Consume , Ava Schrobilgen, Chloe De St. Aubin, Eleanor Livingston, and Kate Halter fight against the inescapable consumption that surrounds life. “There’s a political side to it, but addiction and love can also be all-consuming,” Livingston says. And as the foursome trade off instruments, swapping songwriting and vocal duties, and generating powerful songwriting in concussive bursts, Die Spitz have created their own little pocket of the world where we can all stand on the edge together.
