Lambrini Girls

**NEW VENUE & DATE // ALL TICKETS HONORED** @ The Vic Theatre Tuesday, September 29 Metro presents…Lambrini Girls * Big Special * Big Girl $27.50 Adv. / $30 Day of / 18+ / Doors: 7PM / Show: 8PM In January 2025, Lambrini Girls have released their long-awaited debut album *Who Let The Dogs Out* via City Slang. They sold out shows all over the world and left craters in towns and cities and festival sites across the UK, Europe, South Korea and North America. The album cracked the Top 20 of the UK album chart. It's good, you see. They graced the covers of publications such as DIY, NME, Kerrang! Magazine, NOTION, and features with the likes of Variety, The Line Of Best Fit, BBC Radio 1, tons of playlisting on BBC Radio 6 Music, a KEXP session, coverage from Pitchfork and The Needle Drop etc. etc., the Brighton-based duo of Phoebe Lunny (vocals/guitar) and Selin Macieira (bass) have spent the last few years on a tear in more ways than one. *Who Let The Dogs Out* bottles everything wrong with the modern world and shakes it up. If peppering political songs with humour is like sticking a sparkler in some bread, then their debut is like a fireworks display in the factory itself: strange, dangerous, exciting, and it rips through a laundry list of social ills. It's so good in fact that the legend Peaches herself did the one and only remix for the record.

Everything Everything: Get To Heaven 10th Anniversary

Tuesday, September 29 Everything Everything: Get To Heaven 10th Anniversary with Psymon Spine $40 Adv. / $45 Day of / $140 VIP / 18+ / Doors: 7pm / Show: 8pm. VIP Package includes: Embroidered Everything Everything hat, Signed Get To Heaven anniversary vinyl, Exclusive signed tour poster, Signed set list, Commemorative VIP laminate & lanyard. No-one quite operates in the realm of the visionary Everything Everything. Setting dystopian 'Black Mirror'-style concepts to songs which thrillingly find the sweet spot between esoteric experimentation and art-pop accessibility, the band have earned critical acclaim and a devoted following in equal measure, leading to five Ivor Novello and two Mercury Prize nominations, a run of six consecutive Top 10 albums, and major headline shows including London's Alexandra Palace. Everything Everything have always explored grand concepts in their albums, as demonstrated by 2022's ahead-of-the-curve 'Raw Data Feel' (which fed everything from 4Chan forum posts to the teachings of Confucius into an AI program, and used its responses as a basis for its lyrics and titles). That continues with the release of their new album Mountainhead. It imagines an alternate society in which those at the lowest rung of society's ladder are forced to work relentlessly to keep its elite, at the mountain's peak, elevated. While it's an idea that looks to a nightmarish future, it's full of engaging metaphors for our current existence, from capitalism and environmentalism to religion and celebrity worship. The music is just as engaging, their art-pop heart coloured by an array of off-kilter production touches and a new-found alt-pop accessibility.

Ruth Theodore / Damsel. / Sgt. Starling

Distinguished british artist and 'original folk voice' Ruth Theodore has been steadily releasing critically acclaimed studio albums for over a decade. Having started her career as a street busker on Englands south coast, Ruth is now signed to Ani DiFranco's Righteous Babe records and sharing labels, stages and studios with iconic international artists, as a performer, writer and recently co-producer, making her critically acclaimed music alongside long term collaborators; Tony and Grammy award winning producer and bassist Todd Sickafoose, and Swiss-American virtuoso percussionist Mathias Kunzli. Ruth's music is inspired by lived experience which makes her a folk singer in essense, but there's a strong sense of playful rebellion in her delivery that embodies hints of 1920s vauderville theatre, buckets of indie punk rock attitude and the relentless lyrical energy of a beat poet. A Chicago based singer-songwriter armed with unwaveringly intimate lyrics & acoustically driven melodies, damsel. is a breath of fresh air on the indie folk scene. Taking inspiration from the likes of Phoebe Bridgers, Laura Marling, and Adrianne Lenker, damsel. sings with unflinching honesty about her life and the world that she sees around her. Sgt. Starling is a Chicago-based psych-and-roll and indie rock band.

The band was formed in 1997 by original members Gunnar Örn Tynes and Örvar Smárason and has since then released six full albums, as well as a mountain of other music, singles, EP's, collaborations, theatre and film music. In 2015 múm wrote a special piece named Drowning with German pianist and composer Hauschka, commissioned by the MDR Sinfonieorchester in Leipzig where it was performed that summer. One of múm's more recent extracurricular project is a semi- improvised electronic music score to the silent masterpiece Menschen am Sonntag (1930) and a special performance at Iceland Airwaves Festival 2016 in collaboration with the Kronos Quartet, playing songs from múms backcatalog at Harpa Concert Hall.

Tom Waits' 1976 release SMALL CHANGE Performed Live at FSC

Jazz Record Art Collective presents Androgynous Mustache performing Tom Waits' 1976 release SMALL CHANGE Wed. Sept. 30th @ FSC The night will also feature live painting from visual artist John Ross Wilson. "Small Change is the work Tom has been building up to for his three year career up to this point. This is the breakthrough of Tom's gruffer vocal delivery, and whether he is crooning over a luscious string orchestra or spouting off one-liners over a bouncy upright bass, he's definitely found the voice he's been looking for. There's a bit of every previous Tom Waits album present here, meaning his impressive work ethic has paid off in helping him achieve the sound he's desired. Of course, though, this was created in the midst of the busiest portion of his life, so not only was he touring extensively and constantly having late nights, his drinking habit was worsening by the day. "Tom Traubert's Blues" captures the sorrow feelings of drinking on a lonely night, while a song like "The Piano Has Been Drinking" directly deals with Tom's alcoholism, yet the lyrics ironically see him neglecting to confront his problems. This is one of the most important albums in the development of Tom's artistry, on a lyrical and musical level, and again, while I don't think every song hits the way they do on his debut, it's clear that this is what Tom Waits' name was meant to be…for now…This album was a "small change" for the time being, but in the grand scheme of things, it was a monumental one"

Sabertooth Organ Quartet

Founded around 1990, Sabertooth is led by two saxophonists: Cameron Pfiffner & Pat Mallinger. The band started out with the unique pairing of its two lead reedmen at an old musicians hang called Jazz Bulls in Lincoln Park West neighborhood of Chicago. From that night's collaboration the idea of Sabertooth began to take shape with a driving force behind the widely varied stylings best summed up as, 'just groove it'. Sabertooth has often ventured beyond soul-jazz and hard bop and moved into post-bop and modal territory with John Coltrane's modal recordings of the early to mid-'60s influencing the groups sound. Sabertooth is both a post-bop group and a soul-jazz/hard bop group with a highly diverse repertoire that includes many original compositions and jazz classics by Duke Ellington, Horace Silver, Wayne Shorter, Lester Young, John Coltrane, as well as covers by the Beatles, Grateful Dead, Bob Dylan, Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Bob Marley. Special invited guests who have performed with Sabertooth have included Harry Conick Jr., Kurt Elling, Joe Lovano, Roy Hargrove, Wynton Marsalis Band, Jack McDuff, Joey DeFrancesco, Umphrey's Mcgee Band, and many others. Sabertooth has also performed for numerous jazz festivals, concerts and private engagements.
