**Mother Soki** is among a generation of new artists forging their paths and creating music that attracts fans seeking a soul connection. That creativity led her to sign with independent label Mom+Pop early in 2025. A bit farther back in her trajectory, Mother Soki wasn't even clear about how to pursue music. Carving her way through adolescence with a fierce artistic drive, though, the Minneapolis-based musician discovered her passion for making music while attending college in Chicago. Attempting to pursue other forms of art and avoiding what was her true calling, Mother Soki says, “I realized it was far more fulfilling than any art medium I had tried (and I’ve tried a lot), from beginning to end, and even after. Something about the process of music felt so natural to me, even when I did not know how I was doing it, I was just doing it.” Now immersed in her passion for music, Mother Soki gravitates toward the dreamy textures of Dream Pop and the sonic nostalgia of the ’90s. Drawing daily inspiration from her surroundings, she channels her creativity through classic influences: The Sundays, Imogen Heap, and Cocteau Twins. Her sound blends modern interpretations of vintage synths with heavy guitars and airy, spacious vocals—creating contrasts that shouldn't work, but somehow do. Minneapolis-based Kiernan's first stop on their midwest tour, with Chicago songweavers Beauty Saloon, Ester, Damsel. Indie music for the people. Kiernan is the Minneapolis-based indie folk project of Laura Kiernan. Their music can be described as "sounds for when you're feeding the pigeons" -- in other words soft, spacious, and best done with others. Their latest single, "Small Part of Me" is just that, an ode to their friends. Named one of the Best New Bands of 2024 by First Avenue, they are currently on tour promoting their newest EP, "Take It." Here, take it--you're gonna love it! Beauty Saloon is an alternative rock band from Chicago Illinois, fresh off of an over 3-year hiatus. Fronted by the band’s songwriter Mike Molitor (Sick Day, Sylvia Ivy), Beauty Saloon delivers a wild energy to their sets, perhaps attributable to having yearned for a return to the stage for so long. The band features a new lineup including drummer Robby Kuntz (Red Scarves, Old Joy, Olive Avenue), Ben Baran (Busy Bodies), and Brian Samuelson (Mydge). Beauty Saloon’s recently released the five-track “$25,000 EP"; their first album “BS” dropped in May 2025, and was included in Uproxx.com’s “Best Indie Albums of 2025” list. Ester is the newest evolution of songwriter Anna Holmquist‘s music. This Chicago-based songwriter draws easy comparisons to the English folk-inflected tunes of Bonnie "Prince" Billy, Joanna Newsom, or even the poignant vocal work of Kate Bush, but brings an urgent intimacy to their lyrics that weaves a whole little world into three minutes and forty-three seconds. Initially the solo project of lead singer and songwriter Christina Henson, the members of damsel. first came together as a supporting band for the release show of her debut album “soft animal”. After a year of performing and writing together, the band knew that this former solo project had turned into a full blown band - a labor of love that couldn’t be achieved without all five members. Made up of Christina Henson (Vocalist and Guitarist), Peyton Meacham (Vocalist), Dan Wanner (Guitarist), Mike Pitz (Bassist) and Corbin Wyatt (Drummer), damsel. is rooted in the love these friends found for each other and making music together.

BIO James Ivy is the project of the New Jersey-born, New York-based singer-songwriter and producer James Butler. His debut album, The Seams — simultaneously an ode to and critique of stagnancy — sees Butler muddle through the doldrums of life, stripped of ego or dogma. Acting as a marked moment of pause and resistance, the project works to combat his early reliance on the economy of immediate artistic satisfaction. Entering the music scene in the age of digital immediacy in 2015 via Soundcloud, Butler became accustomed to allowing his music to reach audiences nearly as soon as they had formed. This quick-footed approach to creation continued even after Butler’s project began to explore singer-songwriter territory. The creation of his early EPs, Good Grief (2021) and Everything Perfect (2023) were Butler’s initial steps toward finding his place in music and piecing together his artistic identity. When making these projects, Butler passed his sonic output through a digital filter; the drums were sampled and layered on top of each other, the guitar was played into an audio interface and brought to life through amp simulation rather than recording analog, and Butler’s voice was heavily processed and tuned, acting almost as a synth amongst the rest of the maximalist production. Riding the high of his early work, Butler was brought on to support Keshi, Porter Robinson, and Anamanaguchi on their respective North American runs, and embarked on a headline tour of his own to support Everything Perfect in 2023. Butler has received praise from Pitchfork, NYLON, FLOOD, Triple J, MTV News, Coup de Main, M Le magazine du Monde, and more. Dedicated to nurturing his artistry as both a collaborator and producer, Butler has produced for THE BLSSM, Roy Blair, Porter Robinson and Wavedash, and partnered with Roy Blair to release their joint project, American Road In New Jersey in January 2026 . Swapping his usual digital computer-reliant workflow for a more classic approach, Butler started all his ideas for The Seams on acoustic guitar, ruminating on these ideas for months before taking them to the studio to flesh out the full arrangements. Whereas his earlier work was defined by glossy pop production, The Seams is deliberately raw, brought to life with a purposefully restricted sonic palette consisting of guitars, live drums, strings, and an old DX7 synthesizer. What’s left after all this subtraction is not less, but more: Butler at his most vulnerable and earnest, standing front and center of this record rather than hiding behind a wall of sound. Within The Seams , Butler finds momentum in stagnancy. The monotony of making an album over two years subconsciously comes through in songs about immobility and frustration: loitering in your own mind, being caught in a loop, and trying your hardest to achieve something predestined to fail. “I’m not so good at writing from the perspective of someone else, making up stories or writing abstractly,” Butler shares. “ The Seams ended up being an autobiography of a very boring time in my life where I wasn’t doing a lot of living and I really had nothing to write about other than the feelings of self-doubt, guilt, fear and frustration that came from making this album. I built super high expectations in my head which created a feedback loop — negativity leading to bad, forced, uninspired music which led to more negativity.
