The Chicagoans

The Chicagoans are bringing the sounds of the 1920's and 1930's back to the city. Playing rare and hot music from the past as well as beloved classics, this jazz band has a spirit that sets it apart from the rest. Mia Elliott sings from the heart with a technique inspired by Ruth Etting, Annette Hanshaw, Ethel Waters, and other powerhouse vocalists who shaped the genre forever. With Paul Asaro on piano and Peter Ho on cornet, this group captivates the room with hot solos, sweet melodies, and authentic Chicago style.

The Rock and Roll Playhouse plays Music of Grateful Dead for Kids

Children aged one and under are admitted free to The Rock and Roll Playhouse's shows and do not require a ticket. $16 Advance / $18 Day of Show Thalia Hall has partnered with The Rock and Roll Playhouse so that $1 from every ticket sold goes to Backline and their work connecting music industry professionals and their families with mental health and wellness resources to celebrate World Mental Health Day on October 10. The Rock and Roll Playhouse, a family concert series hosted at historic music venues across the country, allows kids to , "rdquo" -> move, play and sing while listening to works from the classic-rock canon" (NY Times). Performing songs created by the most iconic musicians in rock history, The Rock and Roll Playhouse band offers its core audience of families with children age ten and under games, movement, stories and an opportunity to rock out in an effort to educate children and explore their creativity. The Rock and Roll Playhouse is an early and often first introduction to a child's lifelong journey with live music and rock and roll. See you at the show! This concert for kids and families shares the music of the artist named above with a new generation of music lovers, but is not associated with or endorsed by the artist. All children must be accompanied by a parent or adult caregiver. The Rock and Roll Playhouse knows that little ears are sensitive, so we turn down the volume at our shows. However, all kids experience music differently and you may find that your child is more comfortable wearing hearing protection earmuffs, such as Baby Banz, which are available for purchase here. By attending this event, I consent to my image (with or without my voice) being included in photographs and/or film and videotape of the event, and give BBNY, The Rock and Roll Playhouse and their respective licensees and assigns the absolute and irrevocable right and permission to use and publish such content in any and all media, whether now known or hereafter developed. Copeland w. Special Guest Jenny Dee

Longevity in music comes through pushing yourself and expanding the possibilities of your sound. This has never been more true for Copeland. The band, which originally formed in Lakeland, Florida in 2001, has unveiled six albums, spanning from their 2003s debut Beneath Medicine Tree to 2016s Ixora. While they began as a rock band, Copelands music has explored multiple genres and pulled in various stylistic influences like electronic and symphonic. In the past the musicians have aptly melded these styles, creating a unique amalgam of sounds. This time they wanted to take each sound and style and push it to its logical extreme.

Blind Season / Palmer / Hoverboard

Blind Season are an energetic alt rock band heavily focused on melody and guitar-scapes. Opening a sonic portal to take listeners on an emotional journey! Palmer is a 4pc alt rock/indie rock band. They have a primarily 90s/early 2000s influenced sound, with two female lead vocalists and ripping guitar and drums. Without any set in stone sound, Hoverboard explore the sonic landscape of whatever path they end up following. They don't fully belong to any certain genre, but have self proclaimed their sound as "aggressively dreamy." They've grown a reputation for energetic and deafening live shows; and to date have organized a handful of tours that have seen them play all across America. With no shortage of material, Hoverboard are a tour de force.

An Evening With Steve Dawson with special guests Jason Adasiewicz, Jason Roebke, Diane Christiansen and Alton Smith

One of the lynchpins of Chicagos flourishing songwriter scene is Steve Dawson, a songwriter and vocalist who elevates everything he touches. - WBEZ Chicago An evocative, brilliant songwriter who imbues his songs and recordings with folk, country, and a smattering of soul he should, by all rights, be a household name. - Popmatters Steve Dawson will look back over 35 years of songs and music making, including songs from his first Chicago band, Stump The Host, through Dolly Varden, Funeral Bonsai Wedding and up to his more recent critically acclaimed solo albums, Ghosts, and At The Bottom of a Canyon in the Branches of a Tree. Over the course of 6 albums with Dolly Varden, 4 solo albums, and 2 albums with the jazz / folk combo, Funeral Bonsai Wedding, Dawson has delved into all corners of American music and dug deep into the mysteries and wonders of life, mortality, love and memory. Dawson will be joined by a few guest musicians for this evenings show. Originally from San Diego, California, he spent his teen years in Hailey, Idaho, where he learned guitar and started writing songs. After a few years at the Berklee School of Music in Boston, Dawson moved to Chicago and formed the band, Stump the Host, with his future wife, artist and singer, Diane Christiansen. Later he formed, recorded and toured with Dolly Varden and Funeral Bonsai Wedding. More recently he has created critically acclaimed solo albums for the Pravda record label. Dawson also teaches songwriting at the legendary Old Town School of Folk Music and co-wrote a book on songwriting and the creative process with Mark Caro called, Take It To The Bridge: Unlocking The Great Songs Inside You. In 2020 Dawson was awarded the Esteemed Artist Award from the City of Chicago.

Biitchseat / Empty Heaven / Molly O'Malley

Unabashedly poppy and shimmery, Biitchseat was formed in Cleveland in 2017 by best friends and guitar players Talor Smith (she/they) and Kristin Schmit (she/her). The pop sensibility and sparkle in their music is only matched by their live performances, which are always energetic and, at times, captivating and vulnerable. - Empty Heaven is a project that asks you to get lost in it. Between the cavalcade of releases from the year 2025 (6 albums), the performances that are never the same twice, and a very broad emotional bandwidth, it's Anthony's internal world made manifest. Sometimes, it's the 6-piece band version of Empty Heaven creating a dizzying sonic atmosphere, or it's Anthony solo at the piano doing an interactive, freewheeling show. Either way, EH puts on a show to be remembered and mulled over. - Whenever generations look back on the downward trends and jostled psyches of the post-lockdown 2020s, they might do so while revisiting a cavernous, inactive shopping mall. Once titans of monoculture, then obliterated by two-day timelines, these ransacked husks are reminders of the shuttering divide between commerce, community, and the grey areas that rest between those two nebulous, often opposing ideas. Like all of us stuck indoors ruminating on every data point beamed into our brains, Cleveland songwriter Molly O'Malley alternated between honing another batch of hooky, textured arrangements and finding eurekas in those liminal betweens.
