The last few years have been transformative for Nate Amos. Between delivering breakout records both as a solo artist under his This Is Lorelei moniker and with his band Water From Your Eyes, sold out shows across multiple continents, to seeing some of todays most influential artists cover his songs, the ascending songwriter has found his stride. 2024s Box for Buddy, Box for Star was Amos first attempt at an intentionally written full-length solo album, tackling newfound sobriety through a roving tongue-in-cheek take on musical personas, all strained through Amos genre-agnostic lens. It was a critical and word-of-mouth success, spawning a deluxe version with covers and collaborations including MJ Lenderman, Hayley Williams, Jeff Tweedy, Cameron Winter and many more. For many years, Amos This Is Lorelei project was known only to a close knit group of creatives in Chicago, where he relocated in his early 20s and produced hundreds of albums and EPs, tracing the outlines for both of his prolific projects before relocating to New York. In the time since, hes flourished as a wildly creative polymath who is equally adept at slinging heart worn hooks and eyeball-exploding art-pop.

Critics often draw comparisons between The Tallest Man on Earth and Bob Dylan, citing similarities in both songwriting and vocal style. Matsson himself has acknowledged Dylans influence, revealing that he started listening to him at the age of fifteen. Fascinated by Dylans covers, he delved into their origins, which gradually introduced him to early American folk artists like Pete Seeger and Woody Guthrie. However, Matsson is quick to distance himself from being part of any specific tradition, stating, I dont want to be part of a tradition. I just want to do what feels natural to me. This is how I play, and this is how I write songs. His 2023 album Henry St. marks the first time Matsson recorded an album in a band setting. As described by Matsson, its the most me album yet, because it covers so many of the different noises in my head. Having been away from it taught me that making music and performing is what Im doing for the rest of my life, and Im so grateful for it. It has given me new confidence and playfulness. With only a singlebasement show under their belt, the band received an unexpectedly wide reception, Firstly in online punk circles, and eventually stretching beyond. In 2023, having gotten the chance to tour the USA and abroad with live drummer Spenser Gralla, the duo relocated to their new home and DIY recording compound in Lawrence,KS, and released their sophomore album, Good Living is Coming for You, on Feel It Records (US) and Sub Pop (EU/UK). The album received wide critical acclaim for its pop songwriting and idiosyncratic punk production and led to yet more touring, boosting the bands reputation as a Fierce live act.

When Dixon entered the Berlin club circuit in the early 90s, he made his name on the strength of his djing. Back then, confidence or experience from releasing mixes online didn't matter as much as it does now. You had to do your practice, of course, but when your sound was good and your mixing tight enough to take it to the clubs, there were opportunities out there. But with those opportunities came responsibilities. A residency did not mean playing the same club every once in a while, it meant playing the same club every week. The crowd didn't consist of people who pick and choose club nights and their guest djs as the weekly hype commanded them. These were people who headed straight to a certain club night because they were sure its resident dj would deliver the goods this week as he did last week, and the next weeks to come. As long as that happened, there was no need to move on. In such a context, there is no quicker way to learn how to become a very good dj than by making people dance throughout a set that lasts the whole night, on a very regular basis. If you can't hold the crowd for hours, you won't make it. It's learning by doing, the hard way. Dixon not only learned very quickly, he loved every moment of it. Starting out low, slow, unfolding the flow, working towards a peak, then working towards another, turning up, turning down, to find the exact moment to switch the mood, to find the perfect way to end what should be a lasting experience. Once you've passed your exams in the night club school of that era with flying colours, you can rely on those skills forevermore, and Dixon certainly did. His residencies then and now are clearly schooled on the stylistic and technical versatility and skills, attitude, stamina and experience gained from countless nights honing ways to direct a loyal crowd on the dance floor at will.

For Diles que no me maten, every note is a small step into the unknown. The five-piece Mexico City band have always operated on a first-thought, best-thought basis, drawing on a jam-based, krautrock philosophy to craft intricate constructions of wiry art rock spiked with bluesy balladry and poetic mysticism. Following a debut collaboration concert at Constellation Chicago and the recording of a two-song single for NPR's Tiny Desk Competition, Bridge Percussion and Sachi Keiko will come together once again to perform a full set of Keiko's original songs. Originally written for and performed with a traditional four-piece band, Keiko's music has been reimagined and rearranged to highlight the infinite expressive and creative capabilities of percussion. The members of Bridge Percussion and Sachi Keiko first crossed paths as students of Northwestern University's classical percussion program, but have since come together to create music that goes beyond their classical roots. With this performance, they aim to showcase their shared passion for music in a way that blends influences from traditional chamber playing and orchestral percussion with elements of indie songwriting. By blending percussion and voice, they've crafted a performance that is unique, approachable, and demonstrates the versatility and limitless possibilities of the modern-day percussion ensemble.
