Jazz Record Art Collective presents A Night of Lester, Nat & Buddy with Jeremy Kahn Trio Tuesday November 3rd at Fulton Street Collective. The night will also feature live painting from visual artist TBA. Lester, Nat & Buddy In 1946, Lester Young, Nat King Cole and Buddy Rich teamed up in Hollywood, California to document what would be released as two legendary records. With no bass player involved, this sax/piano/drums trio (a somewhat unusual combination) recorded such classics as "I Cover The Waterfront", "Mean To Me", "The Man I Love" and "Three Little Words." Eric Schneider, Jeremy Kahn and George Fludas will recreate this trio, drawing from the repertoire of these immortal recordings.

Wine Lips is pure chaos. The Canadian garage punk psych rockers know a thing or two about getting loud and rowdy, and their ear-scorchin', headbangin', adrenaline-pumpin' music rips so hard and fast it'll feel like you're being launched clean out of reality. The band's been givin'r since 2015. What began as a part-time project between Cam Hilborn (vox, songwriter, guitar) and Aurora Evans (drums) got cranked right up to a full-blown international shredfest over the last decade. They've quietly become one of the most successful independent rock bands to emerge from Canada in a generation. Wine Lips started out in and around Toronto, expanded to Ontario and Quebec, then knocked out a cheeky international tour in Hong Kong and China in 2018. From there, like their music, they never slowed down. They've ripped hundreds of sets all across North America, Europe, and Asia, playing big fat often sold-out shows at some legendary venues. For three years, they were pretty much always on the road — right up until the end of 2024 when they decided to chill a bit on all the touring to focus on writing their new record TV Dinner.

The two first performed as Ho99o9 in November of 2012 where the energy was intense & infectious resulting in the music rapidly spreading throughout the underground world in the Northeast. That’s the constant starting-line embraced by N8NOFACE. Originally from Tucson, N8NOFACE made his way to LA to double down on the visual, audio and live expression naturally running through his veins. While his influences range from Suicidal Tendencies to Stones Throw compilations of minimal wave music, his sound can be uniquely classified as the past, present and future heartbeat of the real LA. A dirty melding of 80s/90s nostalgic synthpunk combined with the amalgamation of chaos heard in grimy soundcloud rap tapes. N8NOFACE screams for those left behind, presenting the hard truth of police brutality, mental health, and the untold stories of the voiceless. His 1-2 minute minimalist distorted dark synth movements challenge every listener to accept what the real world sounds like, and dares the complacent to be shocked out of their musical safety net of never-ending sameness. **Mark Solotroff’s** music and artwork explore urban landscapes, navigation through city environments, and human connection in an age of digital fragmentation. Alongside diverse collaborations with acts like Wrekmeister Harmonies, The Body, Indian, Consumer Electronics, and Brutal Truth, Solotroff is celebrating the release of *A Diagnosis of Distance*, a bass-heavy solo analog synth record which serves as an unsettling, immersive soundtrack for navigating emotional territories and metropolitan terrain. **Mortido** is the morose death ambient project from Chicago artist Omar Gonzalez (Civil Siege, Machismo, No Dreams, Rectal Hygienics, etc.). Recorded between 2022 and 2023, Mortido’s self-titled debut album synthesizes dark ambient isolation and heavy industrial soundscapes into immersive, cinematic textures. **Exhumed Corpse** is bleak/dark industrial sound constructed from minimal bass synths, audio test lab equipment, and tapes. Uncomfortably slow and low bass frequencies wave in and out of the audible spectrum alongside distant rhythmic metal clangs, bangs, and steam hisses. Rumors of power amps and subwoofers catching fire are true. For fans of NOTHING. **Black Triangle Badge** draws from audio sources both mutated and direct. His sonic palette is as unpredictable and eclectic as the nighttime city streets themselves, crafting soundtracks of unease that reflect a world increasingly plagued by fascism, ignorance, and toxic hate.

After having released 15 albums of original music as a leader/co-leader, it is an immense pleasure to present music that is not my own. Hero Trio pays tribute to several of my greatest influences and inspirations. First and foremost, my path would not be possible without Charlie Parker and John Coltrane. This sentiment is obviously not unique to me. My goal in performing their work is to convey the timeless nature of their indelible impact through a contemporary lens. I have always wanted to record in the powerful yet intimate trio format. It would be an incomplete venture without somehow celebrating the quintessential saxophone trio work of Sonny Rollins, Lee Konitz, and Ornette Coleman. We do so in reimagining classics such as I'll Remember April and I Can't Get Started, as well as Coleman's Sadness. Keith Jarrett's The Windup has been one of my favorites of all time, since I first heard it after borrowing Belonging from my local public library when I was nineteen. Outside of the jazz world, I first saw both Johnny Cash and Stevie Wonder on Sesame Street as a child and have always found their work to be beautiful, humorous, pensive, and utterly joyful. They have played such a strong role in helping me to look beyond the illusory boundaries of genre towards seeing music as a magical force that binds humanity. With this trio, we seek to endorse and spread that message widely.

In addition, the band announces a fall North American tour, as well as releases the first issue of the Sleep Comic Book , written by bassist and songwriter Al Cisneros. “Have Spacesuit Will Travel” begins Sleep’s first mission without Matt Pike on guitar. The music and art are alive and after the decades of obstacles that Sleep has overcome, it is time to move forward and make songs and albums. Al wishes Matt the best on his earth bound maneuvers. Alongside Cisneros, the latest incarnation of Sleep features Dale Crover on drums and Bubba Dupree on guitar. Dale has been in some serious bands, like the Melvins and Redd Kross . That Al would seek him out makes sense, an almost elementary choice that probably wouldn’t raise too many eyebrows. Bubba Dupree, from the fiercely loved band Void , hailing out of Columbia, MD, is a pick that is not only completely mind-blowing, but a choice no one would have seen coming. Just the thought of Bubba, who was amazing from the first Void shows on, playing guitar in Sleep is almost too much for the mind to comprehend. Al Cisneros, Bubba Dupree, and Dale Crover as a trio looks really good on paper, but the only way to see if it worked was to get everyone in a room and play. Al says the answer made itself evident immediately: “The vibe of the first jam was obvious. It was blue sunglasses-era Iommi in the quality, and equally awesome is Bubba is also one of the coolest people I’ve been able to make music with.”
