DogTime! is a new work by Chicago bassist, composer, and interdisciplinary artist John Sutton. This seven-piece ensemble will explore experiences of duration, repetition, instinct, and attention. Structured as four movements --Hunter, Herder, Guide, Guard-- the work explores combinations of repetition and pulse as fundamental elements shaping musical time. Through improvisation, the ensemble navigates distinct environments, moving between stability and uncertainty. Sutton's practice spans creative music, composition, film scoring, and collaborative performance. Working within traditions of free improvisation, jazz, and experimental forms, he develops systems that create space for individual expression within collective structures. DogTime! extends this approach into a performance that invites musicians and audiences alike to consider their relationship to time and presence, through which our experience takes shape. This project is partially supported by an Individual Artists Program Grant from the City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events.

Thursday, December 3 Mareux * blood club * Future Nobodies $25 Adv. / $30 Day of / 18+ / Doors: 7pm / Show: 8pm Mareux is the decade long electronic solo project from LA based musician and producer Aryan Ashtiani that has sparked an international cult following. His often romantic brand of darkwave, and songs like “The Perfect Girl,” have signaled a cultural paradigm shift across the online world that has united people across diverse subcultures. In describing Mareux’s sound, reviewer Fabrizio Lusso puts it best, “Mareux‘s moody and strongly emotional electronic laden lo-fi approach straddles the line between synth-pop, coldwave and post-punk in a stunning and infectious blend of thick glacial beats, lustrous synth stabs, sparse droning elements, vigorous bleak bass pulsations and a superb passionate voice, flavored by a mournful shadowy-goth feel, a seductive 80s flair, and sometimes subtle groovy r&b inflection.”

The Uptones are one of the most venerable post-collegiate/adult a cappella groups in Chicago; we were founded as Uptown Sound in 2009 — before The Sing-Off, before Pitch Perfect, just as a cappella was exploding off of college campuses nationwide. A group of young professionals, with a mixture of singing experience (from college a cappella groups, to musical theatre, to choirs, to nothing at all), came together and decided to set out on an adventure in the world of contemporary pop a cappella. We've gone from performing for 20-odd family and friends in a hole-in-the-wall coffee shop to regular audiences of over 120 at our biannual concerts, and from a repertoire of self-arranged music by none other than our talented members. In our more than a decade of singing together, over 70 people have joined us for at least a little while (anywhere from 12–16 at any one time). We sing because we enjoy performing, because we need a creative outlet… and we stay, because it's fun. The makeup of the group continues to change, but the personality remains the same: music, friendship, and a little bit of humor. We hope you'll love listening to us as much as we love performing for you.

Hailing from Boston, his music pulls from a wide range of influences, fusing gritty low-end with experimental textures that hit just as hard live as they do online. Following the breakout momentum of recent years, Cyclops has kept the energy high with a steady run of releases and collaborations alongside artists like Rezz, Wooli, Flux Pavilion, and more. Heading into 2026, he's leveling up across the board—bigger stages, a packed touring schedule, and new music that pushes his sound even further. With each drop, Cyclops continues to build on his reputation as one of the most exciting rising forces in bass music.
