Julius Tucker is a pillar of Chicago's jazz and creative music community—a pianist, composer, bandleader, and producer whose expansive artistry transcends genre boundaries. With a career spanning over 15 years, Tucker has solidified his reputation for masterful keyboard fluency, harmonic sophistication, and a multifaceted voice that moves effortlessly between jazz, improvised music, electronic experimentation, and beyond. Rooted in Chicago's rich musical legacy, Tucker began his classical training at the Van Moody School of Music at age seven. He later honed his jazz sensibility at the Merit School of Music and Whitney Young Magnet High School, ultimately completing his academic journey at Northwestern University earning degrees in both Jazz Piano and Civil Engineering. Tucker is also a recipient of the Luminarts Cultrual Foundation's Jazz Improvisation Fellowship and is an Artist in Residence at The Cliff Dwellers.

Jazz Record Art Collective presents A Night of Lester, Nat & Buddy with Jeremy Kahn Trio Tuesday November 3rd at Fulton Street Collective. The night will also feature live painting from visual artist TBA. Lester, Nat & Buddy In 1946, Lester Young, Nat King Cole and Buddy Rich teamed up in Hollywood, California to document what would be released as two legendary records. With no bass player involved, this sax/piano/drums trio (a somewhat unusual combination) recorded such classics as "I Cover The Waterfront", "Mean To Me", "The Man I Love" and "Three Little Words." Eric Schneider, Jeremy Kahn and George Fludas will recreate this trio, drawing from the repertoire of these immortal recordings.

He has had the opportunity to play with the Count Basie Orchestra, Cab Calloway Orchestra, Clif Wallace Big Band, Tom Garling Jazz Orchestra, Diego Rodriguez Big Band, Evon J. Sams Quintet/Sextet/Nonet, Afro-Caribbean Jazz Collective, and the Marlene Rosenberg Quartet. As a sideman, he has performed at notable venues and festivals in the Chicagoland area such as Andy's Jazz Club, the Elmhurst Jazz Festival, the Chicago Jazz Festival, Jazz Showcase, as well as venues in Indiana, Iowa, Madison WI, Milwaukee, WI, and Cleveland, OH. As a bandleader, he has performed at various locations in the Central and Southeast Arkansas area, Northern Illinois area, and at esteemed venues such as Fulton Street Collective and the Jazz Showcase in Chicago, IL. Recent achievements include being selected for the prestigious, donor-funded 2024 Jazz Aspen Snowmass Academy Big Band led by artistic director, Christian McBride, qualifying as a semi-finalist in the Jazz Improvisation Division for the International Trumpet Guild's 2024 and 2025 Ryan Anthony Memorial Trumpet Competition and earning 1st place in the 2024 Tom Williams Jazz Division of the National Trumpet Competition. Gabriel Wade is also an avid music educator as his educational roles include being the Trumpet Instructor for the Ravinia Lawndale Family Music School, a piano teacher at Naperville Music Academy, and a trumpet/piano teacher at the Northern Illinois University Community School of the Arts.

An artist who is equally informed by his classical training, love of Jazz, and childhood playing rock music (primarily with his father John Carpender), Henry's playing and writing is a charming blend of punchy, sensitive, quirky, and dripping with love for life and self expression. Henry's dedication to music making began at age 13 when he played his first gig with the much beloved local band Expo '76. Since then, through both his education and the beginning of his professional freelance career, Henry has been fortunate enough to share the stage with Dag Juhlin, Billy Harper, Robbie Fulks, Tanya Darby, Cathy Richardson, NRBQ and the Canadian Brass. Henry has also enjoyed a healthy start to a career as a private instructor and group music educator, running a small studio of dedicated middle and high schoolers across the Chicagoland area. When he's not playing or teaching, he can be found playing video games, cooking a new dish, or relaxing on Montrose beach. This show will be an opportunity to premiere new work, revisit some favorites, and share arrangements of some of Henry's favorite artists. Raíces (Roots) pays homage to the originators of Latin Jazz and performs original music in the same style. The release of their debut, self-titled album was well received and earned this exciting quintet a featured spot at the 2023 Chicago Latin Jazz Festival. Raíces was modeled on the famous Cal Tjader Quintet of the 1950's & 60's by the late Chicago percussionist Rubén Alvarez and is now led by vibraphonist Joe Sonnefeldt. They played to a standing room only crowd at Chicago's Jazz Showcase in July, 2026 to mark Cal Tjader's Centennial. Raíces includes Stuart Seale on piano, Cuban-born bassist Eric Ferrer, Chicago stalwart Bobby Delgado on timbales, and Jorge Leal on congas. Raíces' concerts are always rousing as they put their modern, Chicago-influenced stamp on the Latin Jazz classics of artists like Tjader, Mongo Santamaria, Tito Puente, Paquito D'Rivera and others. Their original compositions blend seamlessly with the standards they perform.

GALACTIC COWBOY ORCHESTRA Galactic Cowboy Orchestra has been bending genre boundaries since 2009 with a high-energy mix of prog-rock, jazz fusion, bluegrass and more. Built on adventurous compositions, odd time signatures, improvisation and serious musicianship, GCO’s music can move from intricate riffs and soaring electric violin to deep grooves and extended jams, sometimes within the same song. With seven albums, three DownBeat nominations, thousands of touring miles and collaborations with symphony orchestras behind them, the Minnesota-based quartet brings all that musical complexity to the stage without taking themselves too seriously. Recorded in a basement in 2010, Road Ends in Water was the first album by Reed Turchi, and showcases his signature slide-guitar and kudzu-boogie in its rawest, most North Mississippi-inspired form. With special guest Luther Dickinson of North Mississippi Allstars playing through a blown-up tape-machine on three songs, the album ranges from uptempo rollicking blues-rock to heavy, fuzzed-out riffs. The inspiration of no-holds-barred dueling-slide-guitar, one-chord romp is clear, as Road Ends in Water offers up a series of originals and adaptations that all end up in a swamp of romp-and-groove. Originally released in 2012 in a pre-streaming world, the album has been lost for over a decade, and has been totally re-mixed and re-mastered for this new release, which showcases a basement boogie in its early glory.

Fulton Street Collective presents a performance with La Mar de Bien-A Flamenco Jazz Collective on Thursday, November 5th at 7:30pm. The evening will feature live painting from visual artist TBA. La Mar de Bien-A Flamenco Jazz Collective, translates to "A Sea of Goodness" which invokes a feeling of warmth, joy and positive energy, which reflects the spirit of the music and visual experience we create together. The Collective features Martin Metzger on flamenco guitar, Rie Katayama on flamenco dance, Marfil Keller Alemán on flamenco voice and flamenco dance, Remi Kimura on latin percussion, Hana Fujusaki on jazz piano, and Freedy Quintero on Latin Bass. The members have dedicated countless trips to Spain to preserve and bring back the art form's virtuosity, passion, and spirit. Their performance is a visual and auditory delight, showcasing dynamic interplay that makes flamenco truly an international art form. In addition to traditional Flamenco Palos, the trio explores music that draws from a wide range of traditions, including Brazilian jazz, Afro-Cuban jazz, and Flamenco-jazz; a touch of Japanese aesthetics, standards and original compositions.

Nearly sixty years after he moved to the United States from Kingston, Jamaica, his hometown, Grammy nominated pianist Monty Alexander is an American classic, touring the world relentlessly with various projects, delighting a global audience drawn to his vibrant personality and soulful message. A perennial favorite at Jazz festivals and venues worldwide and at the Montreux Jazz Festival where he has appeared 23 times since 1976, his spirited conception is one informed by the timeless verities: endless melody-making, effervescent grooves, sophisticated voicings, a romantic spirit, and a consistent predisposition, as Alexander accurately states, "to build up the heat and kick up a storm." In the course of any given performance, Alexander applies those aesthetics to a repertoire spanning a broad range of jazz and Jamaican musical expressions—the American songbook and the blues, gospel and bebop, calypso and reggae. Documented on more than 75 recordings and cited as the fifth greatest jazz pianist ever in The Fifty Greatest Jazz Piano Players of All Time (Hal Leonard Publishing), the Jamaican government designated Alexander Commander in the Order of Distinction in 2000 and conferred on him the national honor of the Order of Jamaica in 2022 for "Sterling Contributions to the Promotions of Jamaican Music and the Jazz Genre Interpretations Globally". In 2018 the University of The West Indies bestowed him with an honorary doctorate (DLitt) in recognition of his accomplishments.

Pianist/vocalist **Bradley Williams** cut his teeth as a Grammy-nominated performer and arranger with Woody Herman's Thundering Herd. His Original 21st Century Review jazz variety show toured the Middle East and Asia, and his most recent Quartet CD, "The Saga of Le Piano," is being released in the Fall of 2026. His partnership with Shara Maxwell features vocal duets and original songs. **Shara Maxwell** blends timeless influences with her mystical, sultry sound. She brings classic songs to life with a freshness that feels both inviting and exhilarating. Everything old is new again. The duo's refreshing material includes amusing (and sometimes rare) works by Gershwin, Porter, David Frishberg, Billie Holiday and Cy Coleman. Comedian **Carly Schirber** will start off the evening with her fast-talking, smart, and chaotic style. Likened to "watching Gilmore Girls... you only understand 90% of it, but it's comforting nonetheless."
