Prabir Mehta is an acclaimed, Richmond, Virginia-based guitarist, vocalist, and composer known for his unique "raag guitar" technique. His musical style seamlessly bridges Eastern and Western cultures, taking the complex, ancient melodic frameworks of Indian classical raags and adapting them onto Western contemporary and acoustic guitar strings. Join us for an evening of music with Prabir exploring Ancient Indian raags on guitar. Accompaniment: Prudhvi Meda on mridanga and Kenneka Cook on box tanpura. Ellie Rui 瑞 is an active, rising jazz drummer, composer, and bandleader based in Chicago, Illinois. Originally from Columbus, Ohio, she has quickly built a reputation in the local jazz, funk, and R&B circuits for her fluid, energetic style and unconventional percussive compositions.
