About
The Rat Utopia Experiment (also known as T.R.U.E.) is a girl-fronted "circus" punk and garage-rock band formed in Tacoma, Washington in 2022. They play a high-energy mix of grunge, garage pop-rock, and riot-style punk. Known as the Pacific Northwest's favorite "circus act," they feature theatrical performances and intense stage chemistry. Their music combines political messages with raw emotional storytelling. Members include Phia Lane (lead vocals and guitar), Francis Green (Francis - bass and vocals), Maddux Mullins (Maddox - lead guitar), Casey Waldbauer (Drix - rhythm guitar), and Evan Fry (Christian - drums and vocals). The band formed while the members were in high school in Washington state. They gained a large underground following and released the single and video for "Lobotomize Me". In August 2026, they signed with Mom + Pop Music. They are heading out on their first major fall tour, playing headline shows and opening for The Linda Lindas.
