About

Mike Lorenz is a guitarist hailing from the Philadelphia region. Since graduating from Moravian College with a Bachelors of Music in Jazz Performance, he has kept a busy schedule as a performer and instructor. He leads his own group performing his original jazz compositions. Since 2007, Mike has led his band in performance at Smalls Jazz Club in New York City, Chris' Jazz Cafe, Ars Nova Workshop/Sci Fi Philly series, Tritone and the Moonstone Arts Center in Philadelphia as well as numerous venues in the Lehigh Valley region of Pennsylvania. He has performed with Andrew D'angelo, Matt Mitchell, John Swana, Jim Ridl, Lou Lanza, Skip Wilkins and is a member of the Tony Gairo Band, the Gairo/Rissmiller Jazz Orchestra, a jazz collective called the Dirt Party and the Doug Hawk Proposition. As a student a Moravian College, Mike was a recipient of the T. Edgar Shields Prize for Music. He was also afforded the opportunity to perform with or in master classes conducted by Ravi Coltrane, Rufus Reid, Bud Shank, Bill Mays and Nicholas Payton.
