Formed in Connecticut, USA, in 2016, Fires in the Distance is a progressive melodic death/doom metal outfit known for weaving crushing, low-end heaviness with sweeping orchestral grandeur and melancholic piano work. Spearheaded by guitarist/synth player Yegor Savonin, the band bridges the gap between Scandinavian melodic death metal and bleak atmospheric doom. The group first turned heads across the international metal scene with their critically acclaimed debut, Echoes From Deep November (2020), establishing a signature blend of heavy riffs, intricate synth textures, and cavernous growls. Signing with Prosthetic Records, they elevated their sound on their sophomore album, Air Not Meant For Us (2023), and expanded their vocal dynamics on Circadian Promise (2026). Drawing comparisons to acts like Swallow the Sun, Insomnium, and Paradise Lost, Fires in the Distance explores deeply personal themes of mental health, depression, isolation, and human perseverance.
